MR. J.C. GRESSE INDUCTED AS NEW CHAIRMAN OF ROUND TABLE 79
February 22, 2025 – Upington
In an atmosphere filled with camaraderie, celebration, and pride, Mr. J.C. Gresse was formally inducted as the new Chairman of the Round Table 79 Upington during a prestigious induction dinner held on 22 Feb 2025 at Oasis Hotel in Upington.
The evening was attended by prominent members of the Round Table community, past chairmen, family, friends, and respected 41ers. The event served not only to welcome Mr. Gresse into his new role but also to reflect on the achievements of the outgoing chairman, Mr. Conrad Gresse, whose leadership was commemorated.
Mr. Gresse, a long-standing member of the Table, was recognized for his dedication, leadership qualities, and commitment to service. In his induction speech, he emphasized the importance of serving the local community.
“It is both an honor and a privilege to accept this role. I look forward to reaching out to the local community of Upington, that is the reason why we as a Table are here today.” said Mr. Gresse.
We were also saddened and overjoyed with one of our strongest tablers joining the 41ers club, Mr. Louis van der Walt. Louis’ solid imputs, good sense of humour and overall great presence will be dearly missed around the table.
The dinner program featured speeches, awards, light entertainment, and astrong sense of fellowship. Guests were treated to a three-course meal and by a celebratory toast to the new chairman. Laughter and shared memories filled the room as the Tablers reaffirmed their mission to serve and uplift their community.
Mr. Gresse’s term is expected to bring fresh energy and exciting initiatives, with an emphasis on development, outreach programs, fellowship, and strengthening bonds within the organization.
As the evening drew to a close, one message rang clear: with Mr. J.C. Gresse at the helm, the future of Upington 79 looks brighter than ever.

Upington 79 huldig twee nuwe Tafelaars in
Upington 79 het die voorreg gehad om twee nuwe lede te verwelkom in hul midde. Beide Ruben Nel en Johan Kuhn is na n goeie tydperk as pipeliners ingehuldig in Hartswater as volwaardige Tafelaars. Die twee nuwe lede is bevooreg gewees om ingehuldig te word deur beide die Presisent, Sean Trautmann, sowel as die Vise President, Alan Malan.
Baie geluk aan Hottie en Ruben, ons sien uit om saam met julle te Tafel in Upington 79 en weet julle gaan nog diep spore trap in hierdie organisasie!

Hartz 186 Droogtehulp Stopover
Upington 79 was bevoorreg om n paar Tafelaars van Hartz 186 te ontmoet gedurende hul droogtehulp projek. Die manne van Hartz 186 was oppad na droogte getuisterde gebiede in die Namakwaland met voer terwaarde van maar as R700 000 vir die Burre Burger Droogtehulp Projek. Om al die trokke en Tafelaars te sien het dit duidelik vir my geraak hoekom Hartz 186 op Artsa Upington weggestap het met die projek van die jaar troffee. Dankie vir die vinnige kuier Hartz 186 en baie geluk met die uitstekende werk wat julle verrig.
AREA CHAIR TRAVELS – VISIT TO PRIESKA 161
I visited Prieska 161 on Wednesday the 1st of August. I arrived way to early but luckily my Area Constitutional Advisor and Ex Area Chairman, Tjop de Vries had some free time. After visiting some of the local watering holes we headed over to Prieska 161’s Clubhouse. Those who have been there will know that Prieska pulls out all the stops and that their clubhouse is always in pristine condition. I’d like to commend all the Prieska tablers, and especially their Chairman, Christo de Witt, for the manner in which their meeting was run. Prieska 161 is always a top performing Table, and after sitting in a Prieska meeting it is easy to see why. I would like to wish Christo and his team well for the rest of the year, and best of luck with your 4X4 Project and Bowls competition. Upington 79 will see you on the lawns and we will bring our A-Game! We look forward to you visiting us in Upington and hope to see you soon!
